SCIENTIST I

Job Description

• Reports to Chief Development & Science Officer

• Travel : 0-10%

The candidate selected for the Scientist I position will be involved in projects aimed at working with immune cells and natural killer cells.

They will have a thorough understanding of immunology as well as cell senescence and aging and have had previous experience working with either the innate or adaptive immune system.

The candidate will be able to conceptualize experiments that include identification, validation, and characterization of potential biological tool and therapeutic targets within the immune system.

Moreover, the candidate will be required to conceive, design, implement, and oversee a range of cell-based assays. The ideal candidate will have a broad interest and experience focused on cell biology and the translation of cell-based technology for drug discovery and therapeutic application.

Familiarity with approaches to isolate and characterize primary cells from the immune system are an asset. The candidate should have a strong interest in cell discovery.

The candidate will be required to work independently, coordinating activities with supervisor and managing several concurrent projects.

The candidate will also be required to advise and consult with other scientists in R&D as well as outside collaborators.

Position Requirements

• Ph.D. in a basic science (pharmacology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology) or M.D.
• 4+ years practical academic and industry experience working with cells
• 3+ years cell culture experience
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas; cell senescence and aging, pharmacology, molecular biology, enzyme assays, cellular biology, model development
• The ability to conceive and design experiments
• The ability to accomplish company milestones set forth
• Working knowledge of standard analytical and statistical principles
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications
• Ability to work under minimum supervision and in a team environment
• Ability to perform supervisory duties and willingness to train and mentor junior team members
• General understanding of cGMP, GLP and GTP
• Understanding of sterile techniques
• Proficient in word, excel, and PowerPoint.
