JOB SUMMARY :
The Construction Carpenter is responsible for assisting in various construction projects, including framing, installing fixtures, and performing repairs.
Using multiple types of materials including wood, they will work on construction and renovation projects throughout the organization.
This role requires attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and a commitment to safety in the completion of all projects.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Building, erecting, installing and repairing forms, structures and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials using hand and power tools.
- Inspect and repair damaged frameworks or structures, ensuring stability and safety.
- Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with other CARTI Team Members including contractors, vendors and other departments as necessary.
- Adhere to project timelines and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials.
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order.
- Ensuring a clean and safe working environment before, during and after a project.
- Complete construction and renovation projects throughout the organization.
- May require travel, night and weekend work on occasion.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION :
- High School diploma
- Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program required; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Arkansas Driver's License
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES :
- Five (5) years' experience of on-the-job construction training required
- General aptitude for and a willingness to perform all-round mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and varied maintenance repairs
- Ability to understand directions and read blueprints
- Must have a good grasp of mathematics
- Ability to use fixed and portable power tools
- Ability to utilize tools of carpentry trade
- Knowledge of carpentry trade principles
- Ability to operate a forklift or vertical lift
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Must have a good understanding of technical terminology
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to follow safety practices and recognize safety hazards
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public
REASONING ABILITY :
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS :
- Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians other departmental personnel, and outside agencies frequently while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.

- The work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more), and perform other similar actions during the workday.
