Job Overview
The Regional Manager (RM) is responsible for the overall performance of multiple-store locations and multiple-businesses (retail, rental, custom and tailoring).
He / she will execute the company and zone direction by coaching Store Managers to run stores efficiently, be customer-ready, setup per visual merchandising direction and up to brand standards.
In addition the RM will create a healthy culture through coaching, positive recognition and creating an environment where opinions matter.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate direct transparent and consistent communications with regional team and direct reports to ensure alignment between the stores and region.
- Build strong partners with zone multi-unit managers (FOMs, ZVMMs, Recruiters, HRBPs), to utilize the support provided to lead your store teams in various areas.
- Analyze key metrics for stores to ensure established goals are met and achieve the desired performance results as measured on the Scorecard.
- Manage store and regional budgets effectively (Payroll, Supplies, Paid-Outs, Travel & Expense).
- Understand the demographics of the market to provide insights on real estate and traffic trends / results.
- Lead store teams to manage local marketing events such as Bridal Shows, Trunk Shows and other opportunities to drive traffic.
- Develop and implement regional strategy to maximize sales and drive consistent performance results across all stores in the region.
- Conduct store visits to evaluate operating practices, productivity, workflow, and profitability. Prioritize RM schedule based on store performance (high performing / under-performing stores).
- Hold store managers accountable to sustain customer-ready stores and to meet the expectations on the operational, visual, brand, and loss prevention store-walks (audits).
- Ensure stores are visually set to brand standards (inside / outside) and promotional signage is set up per company direction.
- There should be a steady pipeline of internal and external talent at all levels through recruitment and succession planning;
as well as appropriate staffing levels within every store which will allow the region to achieve or exceed goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience successfully leading, managing and developing retail teams or equivalent experience.
- Must have strong project management, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a deep understanding of site analytics, sales and financial data.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to easily engage others in positive dialogue one-on-one or in a group setting, and at different levels.
- Experience building organizations with strong teams and truly committed staff evidenced by employee retention and engagement.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Bend down and squat to locate and pick up merchandise located at ground level and to assist customers put on shoes; bend down and crouch to mark pants for alterations.
- Lift arms and reach over the head to hang or take merchandise off racks or place on customer.
- Stand and walk for the majority of work shift, sometimes as long as twelve hours per day, five or sometimes six days per week.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Travel as required.
