Community Engagement Specialist
The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- Participate in scheduled professional development
- Ability to support and guide alternative education programs in a diverse community
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organization and time-management skills
- Experience working with community organizations and groups to meet the needs of children and families
- Flexibility and patience are required
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision
- Must be able to work toward program and district goals
- Demonstration of interpersonal, time, conflict, and stress management skills
- Demonstration of ability to keep records and meet deadlines
- Demonstration of positive human interactions
Sample Job Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to manage the needs of families and their school aged children
- Proactively track the progress of goals set forth by the Lansing Learning Hub
- Help communicate with families and community entities to provide wrap around services for students
- Alert administrators of any concerns
- Conduct scheduled conferences with families and community organizations
- Document all conferences and necessary information in the appropriate computer database
- Fully engage the growth model developed for goal setting, performance, and evaluations
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings and participate in school activities, open houses, orientations, information sessions, etc
- Demonstrate ability to create an environment of respect and rapport
- Establish a culture for learning and respect
- Using questioning and discussion techniques
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
- Effectively communicate with families
- Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission and vision
