JOBSUMMARY

This is an Operationsposition responsible for supervising the activities associated withDelivery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to,management and direction to delivery staff, compliance withgovernment regulations and safety and security of the deliverydepartment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisesthe daily work and safety of Delivery Associates, includingadherence to standard operating procedures, adherence to plannedroutes, and providing safe and efficient customerservice.
  • Ensures Delivery Associate compliancewith local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA,etc.) and ensures that electronic logs are kept current andaccurate.
  • Manages labor hours and consumablesupplies within budget.
  • Prepares work schedulesincluding extra work days and shifts asneeded.
  • Oversees the proper selectionutilization of company assets in support of the Deliverydepartment.
  • Organizes required repairs withproper departments as necessary.
  • Reviewsdelivery functions and productivityreporting.
  • Suggests efficiency ideas, costreduction measures and assists with implementation of deliverychanges.
  • Interprets trains and consistentlyenforces Company policies, protocols and procedures including butnot limited to food safety, DOT, record keeping,etc.
  • Communicates with Sales Management andMarketing Associates to collaboratively resolve any customer ordelivery opportunities or issues.
  • Visitscustomer locations and meets with customers to address issues andassess delivery difficulty.
  • Preserves associaterelations through regular department or pre-shiftmeetings.
  • Maintains on-goinginteraction.
  • Keeps open communication channelswith associates by answering questions and explaining policies andprocedures.
  • Monitors associatemorale.
  • Submits and respond to ideas to improveassociate engagement and enablement.
  • Interpretstrains and consistently enforces company policies andprocedures.
  • Coordinates efforts with the Safetydepartment to aid in training, conducting associate observations,up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accidentinvestigations to determine root causes and routine safetyinspections.
  • Makes recommendations fordisciplinary action and / or behavior modification whererequired.
  • Executes management functions ofstaff selection, development, discipline, performance reviewsand / or terminations.
  • Performs the duties ofassociates supervised and other related duties as needed (and asqualified).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalentcombination of education and relatedexperience.
  • 2 or 4-year college degree inBusiness Management, Supply Chain Management or similar majorpreferred.

Experience

1-3years related experience and / ortraining.

Certificates,Licenses, andRegistrations

  • Complete aSysco approved defensive drivingprogram.
  • HazMat certificationpreferred.
  • Valid Class A Commercial DriverLicense meeting Company standards preferred .

  • Working knowledge of Federal MotorCarrier Safety Regulations.
  • Apply all relevantpolicies in a consistent, timely and objectivemanner.
  • Work in a disciplined manner andcapable of following established procedures, practices and complywith local, state and federalregulations.
  • Manage the pressures and stressassociated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer serviceissues.
  • Demonstrates skill in makingindependent decisions in support of company policies and procedureson time.
  • Able to read, analyze and interpretgeneral business periodicals, professional journals, technicalprocedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Canwrite reports, business correspondence, and proceduremanuals.
  • Effectively present information andrespond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers,and the general public.
  • Exhibit knowledge ofspreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and ability tolearn Sysco technology software andprograms.
  • Must have excellent computerskills.
  • Ability to read, comprehends, write andspeak English.
  • Can add, subtracts, multiply,and divides into all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonfractions, anddecimals.

  • Regularly required to talk orhear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit;use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms andclimb or balance.

  • Mustoccasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds, push / pull up to 350pounds.

WorkingConditions

  • The noise level in the workenvironment is usuallymoderate.
