Aboutthe position : NICURNs are responsible for total care of infants who may be diagnosedwith congenital defects delivery complications or most oftenprematurity.
They formulate nursing care plans and assess planimplement and evaluate the effectiveness of treatments in theseplans. NICU RN s administer medications and perform complexprocedures to coordinate all aspects of a patient s care.
NICU RN swork in the NICU unit of a hospital. Hospitals are given a NICULevel IIV based upon the type of care provided and the extent oftechnology available.
Level I (lowest) is designed for lesscritically ill infants while Level IV (highest) provides the mostsophisticated care for ill or prematureinfants.

Requirements
- Bachelorof Science in Nursing (BSN) : 4Year Education
- AssociatesDegree in Nursing (ADN) : 2Year Education
- Youmust earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to apply for alicense as a RN.
- RNs can only work with an active statelicense.
- ACLSCCRN and STABLE are oftenrequired
