Summary
Illinois Central College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach day, evening and weekend, on campus, off campus, or online course offerings within the Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
If courses are available, adjuncts may continue to teach for future semesters.
The adjunct faculty are primarily responsible for providing quality teaching and learning opportunities for students within assigned class, lab, and / or clinical settings.
The adjunct faculty must adhere to Illinois Department of Public Health rules, program standards, and course syllabus.
Adjunct faculty teach on a part time basis up to 11-12 contact hours per fall and spring semester, up to 5-6 contact hours for summer semester, and / or 29 hours or less during an academic year.
Adjunct faculty should be accessible and available to assist students and maintain office hours to best meet students' needs and ensure students' academic success.
Essential Functions

1. Adhere to instructional syllabus for teaching assigned courses / course content and clearly communicate course schedule, expectations and student learning outcomes.
2. Ensure a positive teaching learning environment is maintained, provide availability of all necessary materials and tools, and adhere to safety standards at all times.
3. Provide grading rubrics and timely feedback for assignments / projects / exams / lab and clinical performance, maintain students' grades in Canvas, record student attendance, keep student continually informed of academic progress, and submit course grades.
4. Maintain office hours and availability for students.
5. Maintain professional, positive, effective communication.
6. Facilitate student success, in collaboration with the Program Manager and program faculty, by assisting with the identification of barriers and resolution of issues, and by referring to access services, academic success, student services, counseling, financial assistance, and other academic resources as needed.
7. Establish and maintain continuous professional relationships within program, department, college and community to assure student and program success.
8. Participate in program faculty meetings for evaluating, reviewing, revising and planning curriculum and related learning activities and teaching opportunities.
9. Participate in Departmental and College committees, meetings, activities whenever possible.
10. Collaborate with Faculty and Staff to continuously improve and adapt the student experience to meet the needs of the student, community and institution.
11. Enhance knowledge and improve teaching by participating in professional development and continuing education.
12. Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
1. Earned Associate Degree in Nursing.
2. Current Illinois Professional registered nurse licensure.
3. Two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
4. Evidence of experience providing nursing care for chronically ill, elderly, geriatrics, or residents in skilled or long-term care setting.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Earned Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing.
2. Completion of IDPH Train the Trainer instructor certification.
3. Documentation of 4 CEUs in Alzheimer's disease or dementia (see Alzheimer's Association, IDPH, HRSA, CDC for free professional development options).
4. Three (3) or more years of clinical experience, providing care providing nursing care for chronically ill, elderly, geriatrics, or residents in skilled or long-term care setting.
5. Academic teaching experience.
6. Community College experience.
