Interview Process :
- Initial Phone Interview with the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
- Second Interview (on-site if possible) with the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
Job Specific Requirements :
- Demonstrate expertise in surgical procedures and the role of a scrub tech.
- Knowledgeable about surgical equipment and its use in the operating environment.
- Proficient in surgical scrub technicians' duties before, during, and after procedures.
- Assemble necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments for scheduled surgical procedures.
- Attend safety training programs and adhere to exposure control plans.
- Maintain and update instrument cards / tray lists and surgeons' preference cards regularly.
- Report observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique according to policy.
- Demonstrate respect for patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
- Foster effective teamwork within the center / unit to achieve common goals.
- Accurately document sterilization records, cleaning forms, logs, etc.
- Assume additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Degree and Certification Requirements :
- Required : GED or High School diploma.
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPR certification required.
- NBSTSA certified Surgical Technician or equivalent certification.
Machines / Equipment Used :
- Operating room instrumentation, video equipment, power equipment, laser and smoke evacuators, microscopes, OR beds, sterilization equipment, clinical equipment for patient care (suction equipment, stretchers, blanket and fluid warmers).
- Office equipment : computers, copy machines, telephones, public address system, and fax machine.
About the Role : Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective invasive surgical procedures.
They ensure the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and operative procedures are conducted under conditions that prioritize patient safety.
