The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Social Work Specialist I to provide very specialized therapy services as part of the Interventional Psychiatry team.
This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team, providing therapeutic intervention according to a specific treatment protocol.
The medical providers on the team will oversee delivery of deep brain stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation, which are both used for treating patients with medication-refractory OCD and are a growing subspecialty field of Psychiatry.
This position will also provide general psychotherapy services in the Adult Psychiatry outpatient clinic including specialized outpatient treatment of adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic evaluation, evidence based intervention, and treatment planning to adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Design, oversee, and manage the psychotherapy component of the transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment protocol in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
- Work with members of the Interventional Psychiatry team to coordinate care for patients involved in the OCD treatment program, which includes regularly attending a weekly interventional psychiatry treatment planning session
- Provide diagnostic evaluation, evidence based intervention, and treatment planning to adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other referral concerns in the general setting of the adult outpatient clinic
- Differentially provide a range of therapeutic interventions with expertise in behavioral and cognitive behavioral therapy
- If not already certified in evidence based behavioral treatment of OCD, clinician will pursue additional training and supervision to develop expertise in OCD treatment during the first year of employment
- Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team to implement patient care recommendations.
- Comply with standards regarding attendance, documentation, continuous quality improvement, data collection, clinic policies and the Code of Ethics.
- Keep current with social work and health care knowledge base and to pursue further enhancements of job-related knowledge.
- Provide program development and training to meet patient and family needs.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.

Required Education, Certifications, and Qualifications
A master’s degree in social work
An independent license to practice social work in Iowa (LISW) is required by the time of hire
Minimum 3-5 years Social Work experience which includes experience with adults with OCD and anxiety disorders
Demonstrated experience with evidence-based practices.
Experience with providing adult psychotherapy
Experience formulating diagnostic opinions and treatment plans utilizing the criteria of the DSM 5
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience collaborating as part of interdisciplinary care teams, including ability to effect change and resolve recalcitrant problems.
Desirable Qualifications
Advanced graduate education and / or continuing education related to advanced behavioral health practice is desirable
