Position Overview
This part-time position supports Shelton, CT and Pittsburgh, PA. The role involves assisting the Payroll Team by performing accurate, timely, and efficient processing, verification, analysis evaluation, and reporting of hourly and salaried payroll data for multiple business entities on a weekly, biweekly, and monthly basis.
The Payroll Specialist also contributes to continuous analysis and improvement of all payroll processes and procedures, including related operational processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Process all aspects of assigned payrolls using automated payroll systems, including verification of time entries, new hires, rehires, terminations, tax information, benefit deductions, awards, leave of absence, relocation reimbursements, bonuses, fringe benefits, garnishments, child support withholding, auditing, and employee master changes.
- Process manual checks and voids in a timely manner.
- Review and validate interfaced data from SuccessFactor to UKG Pro payroll system. Audit assigned payrolls for accuracy and determine appropriate corrective action.
Coordinate and process all incoming data from various sources.
- Reconcile and prepare check requests and wire transfers for payroll liabilities. Reconcile gross to net payroll; analyze, prepare, and reconcile journal entries for upload into computerized accounting system.
- Assist in audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Ensure accurate and timely year-end processing, including reconciliation of tax issues.
- Possess knowledge in implementation and custom reporting for mergers and acquisitions.
- Serve as a backup to three Senior Payroll Specialists.
Skills and Experience
- years of experience processing payroll from start to finish, preferably in a large, multi-state, union environment.
- Experience with write-in sequel database is a plus, but not required.
- FCP Certification is a plus, but not required.
- High School Diploma required.
