Position Details

Summary Operating Title Assistant Professor of Practice - Finance Long Classification Title Campus Location Plymouth Department PSU I&E Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summary of Position This is a full-time teaching position.

It is focused on introductory and intermediate level courses in finance, economics, and quantitative disciplines within the School of Business’ general education offerings and common business core.

Teaching load is 16 credits per semester, 32 credits per academic year.

  • Advising and service to students and the University as detailed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Engagement within School of Business student organizations via faculty advising. There are several student club initiatives across the Finance Club, Student Accounting Society, MAPS, Professional Sales Club and Enactus.
  • Anticipated teaching needs for the coming 2024-2025 academic year include, but may not be limited to, Personal Financial Planning (PFP), Introduction to Finance (FIN) and Principals of Economics (ECON).

PFP, a general education course, provides an important backbone in personal financial literacy education for students across the University.

ECON is a general education option open to all students, and when coupled with FIN is part of the common core of business classes vital to the future collaborative initiatives with other students, faculty, and professional stakeholders.

  • MBA or Master’s degree in related field.
  • Recent university / college level teaching experience of 2-5 years.
  • Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching both online and face-to-face, with evidence from both colleagues and students.
  • Enthusiasm for, and demonstrated competency in, the integration of technology in teaching and learning.
  • Passion for the field of finance and a commitment to exploring future trends in the field.
  • Skills in academic and / or professional mentoring of students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues as well as contribute to course development.
  • Related industry or consulting experience that translates into and supports classroom learning.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching (& advising) experience in the areas of personal finance, business finance, macroeconomics, microeconomics and / or mathematics is preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum design and innovative course delivery strategies, especially online.
  • Experience engaging with a wide variety of learners, including first-generation students, using integrated technology to enhance student learning.
  • Relevant industry or corporate experience is a plus.
