Title : Sr. Project Engineer-Calibration Release Coordinator

Position : C ontract to hire.
As a Senior Project Engineer specializing in the advancement of conventional and hybrid powertrain technologies, you will oversee the meticulous gathering and formal dissemination of calibrations for embedded electronic control units within the product development domain.
Your role will involve consolidating inputs from diverse teams, spanning base engine controls, aftertreatment controls, hybrid controls, and on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems.
You'll also be tasked with assembling relevant documentation for structured releases and conducting comparative analyses to validate contributions from various sources.
Proficiency in general engine and hybrid powertrain controls and calibration is indispensable for recognizing critical content and facilitating seamless integration of updates.

Responsibilities :
- Lead the collection and coordination of embedded control system calibration content and documentation, validating through comparisons with similar products and prior model years.
- Work closely with control software and calibration development teams to ascertain and document appropriate content in a unified dataset.
- Strategize, coordinate, and execute testing of engines, aftertreatment systems, powertrain systems, and OBD systems on engine / chassis dynamometers or in practical applications to validate releases.
- Calibrate and validate electronic control unit parameters to meet program objectives.
- Compile findings and craft presentations / reports for internal and customer review.
- Potential for on-site work at customer facilities and vehicle test trips to support ongoing development programs.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in engine, vehicle, and / or powertrain testing.
- Familiarity with calibration release software (e.g., CFX, CRETA, Powercal, vCDM, Calbert) or demonstrated experience in the calibration release process.
- Understanding of SI and CI combustion processes, aftertreatment systems, and base emissions control strategies.
- Experience with calibration and implementation of OBD strategies meeting CARB regulations or calibration release process.
- Proficiency in base engine, aftertreatment, and / or hybrid electronic control system strategies, software logic implementation, and control system functionality.
- Experience with commercially available calibration and development tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape / CANalyzer, Matlab / Simulink).
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications :
- Knowledge of hybrid powertrain systems.
- Familiarity with control strategies employed on Bosch and / or GPEC controllers.
- In-depth understanding of US emission regulations and certification test procedures for Gas, Diesel, and / or Hybrid systems.
- Knowledge of US OBD regulations and monitoring approaches.
- Hands-on experience with engine hardware, such as engine assembly or rebuilding.
- US citizenship or Permanent Residence status is a plus.
