Academic Advisor
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Learning and Success, the Professional Academic Advisor will be responsible for a case load of first- and second-year traditional students with the primary goal of supporting students from matriculation through graduation.
Responsibilities include :
- Guides advisees through the major / minor exploration and declaration processes, course registration, and the construction of the academic course plan
- Meets regularly with advisees, both group and / or individual sessions, at key points during the academic year
- Monitors the academic progress of all advisees, offers appropriate support, and intervenes when and as appropriate
- Is familiar with campus resources and makes appropriate referrals based on students' individual needs (Wellness Center, Residence Life & Housing, Academic Resource Center, Campus Care)
- Establishes and maintains collaborative and supportive relations with faculty, Academic Affairs and Student Affairs staff, and campus student leaders
- Assists advisees in developing the skills and habits needed to meet the academic expectations of college
- Participates in New Student Orientation, Admissions visit days, and other important campus-wide events & programs when requested
Requirements :
The successful candidate will :
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree (Master' Preferred) with 1-3 years of experience in academic advising or a similar position
- Demonstrate confident public speaking and oral presentation skills
- Have a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the community
- Be Flexible
