Job Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs selected nursing acts in the care of the ill, injured, or infirm patient under the direction of the physician.
Responsibilities
Prepares patient for provider; maintains supplies, rooms, and medications; performs and tracks tests and results; assists providers and nurses;
performs chart documentation, review, and maintenance; performs front office duties when required and completes miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Maintains patient flow in the clinical areas.
- Administers treatments as ordered by the providers. Responds to patient refill requests and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Performs Drug Screens, Audiograms, Pulmonary Function Tests, Respirator Fit Tests, office based medical testing to include urinalysis, strep screens, flu screens, etc.
as ordered by the providers. Correctly completes appropriate forms, requests and requisitions according to standard protocol and as per corporate client profiles.
- Cleans, packages, and sterilizes instruments and procedure supplies per OSHA standards. Cleans exam rooms and equipment as per OSHA standards.
- Appropriately labels and provides insurance info for any referral to lab, x-ray, or specialist. Refers according to insurance guidelines and protocol, records and reviews all services and supplies rendered on the superbill for accuracy and proper code selection.
Completes work efficiently and accurately at the pace indicated by the flow of customers. During decreases in customers, utilizes time productively for the benefit of the clinics.
- Assists in the provision of patient teaching and discharge planning.
- Maintains current knowledge / certification / licensure.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Technical Diploma / Certificate Practical Nursing Required
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse Florida or eligible compact state license Upon Hire Required and
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills verbally and written
- Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
- Knowledge of clinical and / or surgical operations and documentation.
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and / or services ordering and inventory contro
- Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids.
- Ability to read and understand the English language.
