We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of 8 engineers. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and fluent bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English.
As a key member of our client's organization, you will play a crucial role in driving software and product development initiatives, fostering a collaborative team environment, and effectively communicating with their headquarters in Japan.
This company is highly collaborative and offers a hybrid remote schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. Free parking onsite and next to multiple transit options!
Responsibilities :
- Lead a team of software engineers and provide guidance and support to promote professional growth and high performance
- Define and refine engineering processes to ensure efficient and effective software development life cycles
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align software projects with company objectives
- Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous training of engineering talent to build and maintain a skilled team
- Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and facilitate career development plans for team members
- Effectively communicate with the headquarters in Japan to discuss project updates, technical challenges, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality software through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices
- Develop and manage budgets for projects, including resource allocation and cost control
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and other relevant stakeholders
- Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles that impede the engineering team's progress
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team

Requirements :
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a software engineering leadership role
- Ideally 5+ years in software development
- Deep understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
- Fluency in both Japanese and English , with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- A passion for technology and a desire to build innovative software solutions.
- Strong technical skills in software development methodologies, programming languages, and tools.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to guide, mentor and inspire a team
- Prior experience in the manufacturing industry would be a plus
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical concepts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
