Computer Technician - Independent Contractor For Laptop Maintenance
Job Description
We seek a qualified Computer Technician to maintain and reimage Dell, Acer, and Toshiba laptops. We have an image with all the software associated with each laptop model that has been tested and working.
Laptops should be tested to see if they boot to Windows. Laptops that do not boot have to be reimaged with the provided image for the laptop model.
As a computer technician, you must be able to troubleshoot and recommend solutions. The operating system for laptops is Windows 8 and 10.
Laptops are between 5-10 years old. We do not update to Windows 10.
Must be able to pick up laptops from our storage locations in Columbia, Maryland, and Fairfax, Virginia.
We will need annual maintenance with seasonal service as needed.
Qualifications :
You must have successfully reimaged laptops or computers through a network using ghosting or clone software of your choice.
You must be willing to volunteer to set up a network using your hardware and software and to test up to 5 laptops that we will provide.
We will give a clean laptop to be used as a master image to clone to other test laptops.
Responsibilities
Reimage laptops by setting up a network through a switch and reimage laptops using the ghosting / clone software you choose.
Install missing software and drivers
Troubleshoot boot to Windows failure and other hardware issues
Pick-up broken laptops and return them once the job is complete.
Attend virtual meeting or email updates on progress

Prescreening questions
1. This is a part-time freelance computer technician job; you will be responsible for picking up our broken laptops and having them reimaged at your place. Is this acceptable?
2. You will meet with one of our Fairfax or Montgomery Counties managers at our storage location to receive broken laptops that need re-imaging. Is this acceptable to you?
3. Do you have your server, switches, software, and everything needed to reimage broken laptops?
4. This is a freelance independent contractor job where you provide the service to us, and we act as your client. Is this acceptable?
5. This job allows you to make your schedule (weekends, after work hours) work on our broken laptops. It is an excellent supplemental income. Is this acceptable?
