Location : Americus, Kansas
Position Overview :
Americus School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with diverse learners and a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and other support staff.
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities, utilizing evidence-based practices and differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary to ensure student growth and achievement.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and services provided.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and educational programming.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility for certification through an alternative pathway.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
Required Licensure and Certifications :
- State Licensure : Must hold or be eligible for a Kansas teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
- Special Education Certification : Must hold or be eligible for Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Special Education Teacher certification.
