may handle MSU level patients if no ICU patients are present.- Manage a patient mix that includes post-heart cath, cardiac (ACS / NSTEMI / CHF), post-surgical, overdose, cardiac arrest, detox, septic shock, pulmonary edema, end-stage COPD, and oncology with complications.
- Engage in surgeries and bedside procedures, such as GI surgeries, pacemaker insertion, cardioversion, intubations, chest tube insertions, and more.
- Patient ratios are RN - 1 : 2 for acute patients, up to 1 : 4 if Med-Surg overflow is needed, or 1 : 3 if two are lower acuity / medical status.
- Support on the unit includes a Telemetry Monitor Tech available 24 / 7 and a hospitalist available at all times.- Opportunity to learn new skills like ABG collection and U / S guided IVs.
- Complete two days of hospital orientation followed by two days with a preceptor.- Participate in a flexible weekend rotation within the staff schedule.
