Job Overview
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) works closely with the General Manager and the leadership teams to ensure a high-performance environment and to foster a positive and productive workplace.
The AGM supports the General Manager in setting and communicating standards and practices, driving daily service excellence, and inspiring the team.
The role involves overseeing operational aspects, mentoring team members, and ensuring that both guest experiences and staff work environments align with the company's core values.
Core Tasks and Key Responsibilities
- Team Development :
- Assist in growing and developing teams that embody the company’s culture and values.
- Support and coach management teams to convert first-time guests into loyal regulars.
- Mentor and guide team members to ensure adherence to company standards.
- Operational Excellence :
- Monitor and manage payroll and staffing schedules, making adjustments based on business needs.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and maintenance in all operational areas.
- Manage the administrative aspects of the business, including scheduling, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Guest Experience :
- Actively participate in service cycles to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
- Address and resolve any guest issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support beverage management with inventory control and reconciliation.
- Staff Management :
- Assist in executing progressive disciplinary actions fairly and consistently.
- Provide training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and performance.
- Ensure effective scheduling and staffing to meet business demands.
- Compliance and Standards :
- Ensure compliance with health department regulations and company HR policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely completion of administrative requirements.
- Support the General Manager in achieving financial targets and managing costs.
- Event and Inventory Management :
- Support management with private dining events, including coordination of menus and logistics.
- Assist in wine training and tastings as needed.
- Ensure that physical inventory is managed effectively and that CGS products meet quality standards.
- Technology and Systems :
- Act as a primary contact for resolving POS and tech issues.
- Ensure accurate reporting and record-keeping for all operational aspects.
Qualifications
- Experience :
- 3+ years of hospitality management experience, with a proven track record of operational excellence.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a similar environment.
- Skills :
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of restaurant management systems and processes.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to handle complex employee relations matters with discretion.
- Proficient in administrative tasks, including payroll and scheduling.
- Attributes :
- A strong commitment to fostering a positive work environment and enhancing guest experiences.
- Ability to inspire and motivate teams while holding them accountable to high standards.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
