About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty : General Medicine Job Duration : 12 months Shift : Days, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred License : Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or ARC) Must-Have : Nursing Diploma, ASN, or ADN from an accredited school of Nursing Job Description : - Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting.
- Report and be accountable to the Nurse Manager / Director while coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Identify and meet one's learning needs and attend education programs based on identified learning needs. - Use patient education materials relevant to patient population and assess readiness to learn of the patient / family / caregivers.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and revise the plan of care as needed, seeking guidance as required. - Participate in discussions with interdisciplinary team members in evaluating patient care and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Demonstrate competence in care for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required for the patient care plan. - Utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care, organizing, and prioritizing care according to patient / family needs.
- Consult appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and those at high risk for discharge planning.
- Develop goals with assistance to promote professional growth or address limitations, achieving objectives within identified time frames.
- Participate in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities, effectively using communication systems and promoting cost-effective care.
- Provide feedback to co-workers and maintain awareness of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. - Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities, assessing and anticipating discharge needs of patients and families.
- Develop relationships with families to advocate for the patient and their own needs, collaborating with patient / family to prepare or update the plan of care.
- Read journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice, bringing ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.
