Job Description
The Area HR Business Partner (HRBP) leads the HR function for multiple Eataly Operational Units, creating a strategy to enhance employee engagement and support business operations by providing direction on interpretation of policies, recruitment and selection, onboarding, benefits administration, training, performance management, employee relations, terminations and more.
The successful candidate must have a broad knowledge of HR policies, practices and employment law and the capability to influence by building positive working relationships and partnerships.
The candidate also needs strong coaching skills along with the ability to balance being analytical and fact-based with being people focused.
Flexibility and the ability to balance the needs of all levels within an organization are essential. Reports directly to the VP of Human Resources, with functional reports to Store Operations.
Oversees a team of onsite HR Generalist(s) and HR Coordinators.
- Develops and deploys a fully integrated people strategy for the whole employee lifecycle, ensuring we stay competitive in our ability to develop, attract and retain talent for the future.
- Partners with senior leadership to define and implement capability building projects that drive continuous improvement and ensure the HR strategy is structured and functioning to best support business and financial objectives.
- Collaborates with leadership teams to maintain and further develop talent management programs, including onboarding, compensation and benefits, retention, headcount planning and analytics, succession planning, employee engagement, and employee development and initiatives.
- Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Manages complex employee relations issues : conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations, hearing and resolving employee grievances;
counsels employees and supervisors
- Provides coaching and support to the organization’s employees on performance development plans, career development and oversees performance management and compensation budget planning process for area of responsibility.
- Builds and fosters partnerships with the organization’s leaders, hiring managers and talent team to execute workforce plans and ensure the effective evaluating securing and on-boarding of talent to the organization.
- Interprets employment laws and policies for employees and management and creates strategy to respond to new requirements.
Defines, audits and addresses non-compliance issues.
- Manages, schedules and collaborates with the local Human Resources teams.
- Engages employees at all stages, establishing and leading orientation and onboarding programs and activities that promote growth and engagement.
- Helps to promote company-wide training programs and platforms, to support base / foundational requirements, provides clear career progression and allows for opportunities to add and strengthen skills
- Ensures legal compliance : monitors and implements applicable HR federal and state requirements; conducts investigations;
maintains records; represents the organization at hearings if necessary
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree preferred
- 7+ years of full-cycle HR experience in a multi-state / multi-facility business environment
- Prior work experience in California with deep understanding of California employment law
- Excellent understanding of all components of HR including systems, databases and metrics
- Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at all levels
- Demonstrated managerial courage to provide timely and actionable feedback to leaders
- Ability to be proactive, independent, efficient and resourceful in a hands-on fluid environment
- Outstanding leadership and project management skills
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in the retail or hospitality industry strongly preferred
- Passion for high-quality food and guest service
The annual compensation for this position is $130,000 - $145,000
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- This position is on-site five days / week at the Los Angeles Eataly
- Availability to travel to other locations in the Operational Unit as needed
