The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II (40 hours per week) to work at our Urology Northgate Medicine Clinic .

University of Iowa Health Care's specialty clinic provides a convenient location for medical and surgical care for male and female patients, and selected services for pediatric patients.

Our team develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

That specialist will consult the same medical record your family medicine provider has been keeping for you, so your specialty care is streamlined.

Our medical assistant'saccompany the physicians or medical providers into the examination rooms in order to transcribe the clinician’s and care team’s encounter with the patients in real time.

They accurately and thoroughly document the encounter with our patients as it is being performed by the providers, which may include documentation in the following sections : problem list, history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, assessment and plan, procedures and treatments performed by team, patient education, orders, medications, referrals, explanations of risks and benefits, and instructions for self-care and follow-up.

Duties to include :

  • Staff will support our Muscatine Clinic.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word / data processing equipment and / or conventional office equipment.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Regular salaried position located in Muscatine, IA and surrounding cities (as needed)

Percent of Time : 100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule : Monday - Friday; standard hours 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM.

Location : Iowa City, IA (occasional travel to other clinical locations within a 2 hour radius)

Pay Grade : 9

Salary : $40,264.16- $59,798.88 / Hourly : $19.21 - $28.53 (based on years of experience)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to : pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a team-orientated environment is preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR Epic, Word, etc.

Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.
