Weare looking for a Radiologic Technologist 1 & 2 to join our team!
Under general supervision, operates radiographic andsonographic equipment utilizing the direction from the ordering provider in amanner that is consistent with department routines and procedures.
In doing so, positions patients, adjustsequipment for proper exposure settings, and acquires images following theprocedure and facilitates image storage in the PACS system.
Also assists physicians in performingexaminations by administering / providing contrast media and assisting withprocedures as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supports and models behaviorsconsistent with RMH’s organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals,business strategies, code of business conduct, and service expectations.
Responsible for adherence to the elements ofRMH’s Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program. Meets all mandatory organizational anddepartmental requirements.
Maintainscompetency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agencyenvironmental, employee, or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
Treats all patients / residents,families, and co-workers as welcomed guests; makes eye contact whilecommunicating with or encountering guests, expresses a positive attitude (e.
g.,by smiling), greets all customers and co-workers, and introduces self as appropriate.
Insures radiological servicesprovided are in compliance with standards established by RMH, local, state andfederal agencies.
- Performs quality exams using theappropriate department routine as ordered and be able to perform thoseexaminations using all the general radiographic equipment.
- Prepares the room, equipment andsupplies as dictated by the particular examination or patient need andprocesses the necessary radiographs.
- Prepares the patient for theexamination by ensuring the patient is attired properly, explains theexamination to the patient and transfers and positions the patient as needed.
Demonstrates awareness of radiation safety for patients, self, and co-workersin particular by using appropriate shielding for patients.
Assists the patient at the end of theexamination.
Informs Manager of any unusualconcerns, situations or conditions relative to staff, patients andphysicians. Assists with stocking andcleaning radiology rooms daily.
Maintainsadequate inventory of all required supplies by appropriately utilizing supplymanagement software / hardware and / or informing appropriate personnel foracquisition.
- Performs a variety of clerical andimage management tasks, as required, such as working up patients, completingthe appropriate paperwork following each examination, and properly identifiesexams for PACS storage and review.
- Coordinates scheduling,transportation and scanning of patients.
- Analyzes sonograms, medicalhistory, and utilizes independent judgment during the sonographic exam toaccurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Prepares preliminary reports and / or checklistfor the interpreting physician. Reviews exam with the interpreting physician asrequested.
Communicates with attending and referring physicians as appropriate.
- Works collaboratively to maintainan organized and effective radiology department for all. Including but notlimited to; cleaning equipment, ensuring a clean and comfortable patient careareas, stocking supplies, organizing work-station area, etc.
- General Duties for RadiologyDepartment Staff
- Identifies need and sets goals forown growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmentalrequirements.
- Maintains competency in allorganizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee orpatient safety standards relevant to job performance.
- Is responsible for taking anactive role in the mentoring of the student technologist staff.
- Acts properly, is present exceptfor allowed time off, arrives on time, and follows RMH policies andprocedures.
- Performs all other duties asassigned or needed to meet the needs of the department / organization.
MINIMUIM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a recognized approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in Radiological Technology.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or board eligible (must achieve ARRT credential within six months of employment)
- Current Montana license as a Radiology Technologist.
- CPR / BLS Certification for health care providers
