We are seeking a highly trained medical assistant to join our well respected office in Arcadia. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge and experience in providing exceptional patient care, performing clinical procedures, and managing administrative tasks in a fast-paced medical environment.
The medical assistant will work closely with physicians, patients, and office staff to ensure the highest level of quality care and service.
Key Responsibilities include :
- Greeting patients, take appropriate vital signs, review current medications and record in medical record
- Assisting with tracking and monitoring department specific data
- Explaining policies, procedures, or services to patients using clinical or administrative knowledge, based on scope of practice
- Setting up exam room / procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
- Assisting MD with procedures as needed
- Managing patient care flow and assist with monitoring EMR messages and tasks
- Relaying medical results to patients
- Cleansing / re-processing equipment and supplies based on standard work and department guidelines
- This position will also be trained and will be responsible for appointment scheduling, performing routine duties associated with the collection and maintenance of current patient information
Previous Experience :
- Experience as a medical assistant in an OBGYN or related specialty is preferred but not necessary.
- Proficient in performing clinical procedures, including vital signs assessment, basic lab tests and assisting with exams.
- Experience with electronic health record systems for scheduling appointments, submitting authorizations, and recording patient information.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, charting, and documentation.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, physicians, and office staff.
- Knowledge of OBGYN procedures, protocols, and best practices.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduation from accredited Medical Assisting from an accredited educational program and / or Medical Assistant Certification from Board approved Medical Assistant Organization required
- CPR / BLS Certificate
- Phlebotomy / Blood Withdrawal Certificate
- Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomatology and life threatening medical problems
- Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM, subcutaneous medications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, ancillary departments, physicians and co-workers in a courteous and compassionate manner
- Ability to follow proper channels of policies & procedures, communication & work standards
- Ability to organize tasks to facilitate smooth work / patient flow
- Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments
- Ability to perform accurate patient sample testing for clia waived tests
- Skill in speaking on a one-to-one basis with persons of various cultural, economic and educational backgrounds to obtain and communicate information
- Skill in employing independent decision-making techniques while performing various job duties
- Ability to maintain composure in situations involving emergencies, dealing with hostile patients, or heavy workload
- Knowledge of Obstetrics and Gynecology terminology and procedures
- Ability to work flexible hours
