The Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Director of the George W.
Comstock Center for Public Health Research and Prevention . The successful candidate will be named the George W. Comstock Professor in Public Health Research and Prevention .
The Center, located in Hagerstown, Maryland, is a renowned research field center for multiple experimental and nonexperimental studies and clinical trials including the longstanding Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) cohort study.
The Director will be responsible for providing strategic direction and operational management for the Center's activities, supporting current grants and contracts, identifying and securing funding for new research projects, and fostering collaboration among community members and associated Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, and trainees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in epidemiology or related field
- Experience in developing a strategic vision and leading diverse, interdisciplinary scientific and community-based teams in experimental and nonexperimental research studies and clinical trials
- Experience in collaborating with community-based organizations and leaders in the conduct of public health research and dissemination of findings
- Excellent management, scientific writing, and communication skills
- Experience and potential for securing external funding for new projects
- Experience in supervising and mentoring students and early career professionals
- Interest in and commitment to teaching
