This is a fulltime position with Los AngelesUnified School District. The ideal candidate willprovide electrical design work and coordinate with staff andengineers.
They will review construction drawings for codecompliance support inhouse projects and prepare electricalestimates. They will assist Design Managers conduct virtual DSAbackcheck appointments and visit sites to verify conditions.
Thecandidate will resolve electrical issues guide project sitesneeding power upgrades and assist with electrical scope formodernization projects.
With three years of professional electricaldesign experience or valid Professional Electrical Engineerregistration a bachelors in Electrical Engineering is required.
Preferred skills include understanding new code requirements andupdating District design guides.
Responsibilities
- Provide electrical design work coordinatingwith inhouse staff as well as task orderengineers
- Review construction drawings forcompliance with District standards and mandated electricalcodes
- Provide constructionadministration support for ongoing inhouseprojects
- Prepare electrical estimatesfor project budgets
- Prepare reportsand Project Requirement Documents to help obtain funding forprojects
- Assist Design Managers indefining electrical scope
- Assist invirtual DSA backcheckappointments
- Visit school sites todetermine asbuilt conditions when asbuilt drawings are notavailable or are incorrect
- Assist and resolveelectrical issues during construction when a subject expert isrequested by Project Execution to provide direction due to codecompliance issues
- Coordinate with task orderengineers and electrical service providers when project sitesrequire power upgrade; provide guidance and approval of thedesign
- Assist Asset Management staff inclarifying and approving electrical scope for modernizationprojects
- Coordinate new code requirements withthe Inspection Department and consult mandated standards to updateDistrict design guides
- Conduct research on codechanges and identify the implementationmethods
- Performs other duties asassigned
RequiredExperience :
- Three (3)years fulltime paid professional electrical design experience in apublic agency school construction or large capital commercialprojects
- Valid Certificate ofRegistration as a Professional Electrical Engineer issued by theCalifornia State Board of Registration of Civil and ProfessionalEngineers
RequiredEducation :
Graduationfrom a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree inelectrical engineering
