About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Technician Job Specialty : Surgical Technologist, Scrub Technologist Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Varied 12-hour day / evening shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 2 years License : Not specified Certifications : American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required, Certification or eligibility for certification preferred Must-Have : High school diploma required, One year of experience in the operating room as a Surgical Technician or Surgical Technician training required Job Description : Assist with surgical procedures by performing scrubbing duties.
- Prepare for procedures and assist the operative team, including the preparation and maintenance of sterile supplies.- Create and maintain a sterile field.
- Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening.- Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning prior to use.- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air-powered equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Scrub all surgical procedures and understand the special needs, techniques, and requirements of individual surgeons.- Ability to scrub specialty surgeries without the presence of a sales representative, including sports medicine and trauma.
- Assist RN with completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during procedures.- Collect specimens and cultures by verifying the source and correct tissue identification with the surgeon.
Additional Information : On-call required.- Housing options are available in dorm-style apartments, subject to availability and cost, within walking distance to the hospital.
