Position Summary

As an EHS Manager, you will manage a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety program for the Mactac Minneapolis, MN facility.

You will provide leadership, direction and training to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for our associates, while ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations, to minimize current and future risk / liability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and drive programs / initiatives that foster a safety-first culture within the facility.
  • Champion injury prevention through risk assessment, auditing (equipment, process, behavior), corrective action, and rigorous implementation of safety programs.
  • Provide incident and injury investigation, incident reporting management, and oversight for the facility.
  • Lead team engagement activities, including frequent employee communications, shop floor meetings / committees and drive a hazard ID program.
  • Develop key indicators and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of EHS and sustainability (energy, water, waste).
  • Provide relevant reports to site and corporate management on a daily, monthly, annual basis.
  • Manage all permitting to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local authorities, taking the lead relative to Title V, and water permits (Industrial and Stormwater).
  • Coordinate complaint waste management processes (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal) associated with a Large Quantity Generator.
  • Lead and continually improve employee training programs, including specific new hire training as well as refresher trainings for all employees.
  • Identify needs, provide oversight, and drive completion of industrial hygiene requirements.
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage all high-risk activities (solvent handling, lockout, confined space, forklift-pedestrian interaction, etc.).
  • Develop and submit annual budget requests for both EHS department expenses and EHS capex improvement projects, and lead completion of EHS related improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response and contingency plans.

  • Physical Requirements : The person in this position normally works in a manufacturing environment with a significant amount of time spent in the manufacturing facility.

Industrial PPE (Eye and foot protection) are mandatory in the manufacturing area.

  • Travel : Limited (occasional visits to other US Mactac locations to benchmark)

  • A Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related.
  • Experience :
  • EHS management in manufacturing environment or desire to begin that career path (we are more interested in the right person than the right time!)
  • A subject matter expert on a wide range of health and safety regulations and consensus standards.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and how they are applied in a manufacturing facility.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably with some solvent / hazardous chemical familiarity.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills, used to identify patterns and develop actions from inspections, audits, hazard reviews and incident investigations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability and desire to build a safety culture through influence and engagement.
