Psivant Therapeutics is a recently funded Series A startup leveraging our QUAISAR computational platform to design small molecule inhibitors for Immunology and Inflammation related diseases (I&I).

We are seeking a Director of Corporate Development and Portfolio Strategy to join our integrated team in Boston Seaport.

The Director of Corporate Development and Portfolio Strategy is a business building role, working directly with our executive leadership and collaborating with all parts of the company to direct corporate development and portfolio strategy.

You will help drive target and market assessments, competitive landscaping, Target Product Profile development, and Board of Directors materials preparation.

You will also use Corporate Development considering partnership, collaboration, fundraising, and eventual alliance management opportunities as a tool to execute on portfolio strategy to drive value from our platform and best bring our programs to patients.

  • Managing and coordinating discussions with potential Business Development partners, conducting outreach, managing the data room and diligence, tracking all interactions in detail, creating models to understand potential ranges of deal structures, supporting assumptions with comparable and precedent transaction analyses, and proactively identifying next steps in each discussion.
  • Landscape potential Business Development partners of all sizes across all geographies, understanding each company’s areas and stages of interest, potential interest in our programs & platform, and tracking these over time.
  • Participating in discussions with investors, tracking these discussions, and managing follow-ups with materials & data room information.
  • Conduct deep assessments of targets, including understanding clinical and preclinical data in place, competitive landscaping of targets, tracking competitive programs and their milestones, potential indications for each target, and market potential of each indication;

then work with executive leadership to prioritize targets based on the deep target assessments.

  • Ownership in preparing materials for all workstreams, including target assessment, portfolio strategy, Corporate Development, investor, and Board of Directors, budget, and finance discussions.
  • Provide Alliance Management for executed partnerships, working with both internal and external colleagues to strive towards productive working-relationships with partners.
  • Build and maintain a broad business development network and a progressive knowledge of industry deal trends and emerging innovations.

Key Qualifications

  • BA or BS with scientific aptitude required; MD / PhD not required but a plus, otherwise MBA preferred.
  • Background in consulting, investment banking, or investing with a skillset directly applicable to biotech company building.

Well-developed deal sheet is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of and experience in the drug discovery process, drug development, and computational approaches to both.
  • 5-7+ years of direct corporate development, portfolio strategy, and business building experience with a demonstrated knowledge of the biotech industry.
  • Very strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word skills, with the ability to operate independently to create and track materials.
  • Deep understanding of various deal structures, licensing and collaboration agreements, and ability to work with legal and deal team to achieve best outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to be able to evaluate deal considerations, viability, and alternatives.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and integrate cross-functional data to drive company strategies.
  • Confident communicator who can clearly present to all levels both within the organization and externally.
  • Proven ability to manage timelines and resources to reach decisions / milestones.
  • Mission-driven and focused on building value for patients.
  • Always-learning attitude with an entrepreneurial spirit, having a proactive mindset to contribute across functions.
