De La Pena Eye Group is hiring a Fulltime Retina Technician / Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing and busy office located in Van Nuys, CA.

About the Opportunity

Working Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm , you have the opportunity to join a multi-site, multispecialty, state-of-the-art group of providers founded in 1984.

Over the past four decades, DLP Eye Clinic has treated more than 400,000 patients! Some Saturday availability from 7 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm is required, and there is frequently an opportunity for overtime.

This position demonstrates a commitment to providing top-quality care. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, time-management skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as a team to accomplish daily goals and objectives.

Ophthalmic Scribes are responsible for direct patient care. Scribes document medical findings and communication between doctor and patient in Electronic Medical Records.

This position requires frequent traveling to other De La Pena Eye Clinic sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

About the Candidate

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to perform OCT, topography, and fundus photos.
• Assist in minor surgical procedures such as injections, lasers, etc.
• Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, and pachymetry.
• Schedule surgical cases.
• Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the team lead and doctor.
• Provide patients and / or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician.
• Accurately and thoroughly document ophthalmic exams and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.
• List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the physician.
• Perform clerical tasks as needed by the physician including faxing, phone calls, referral letters.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist during physician exams.
• Document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly.
