Saint Cecilia Catholic School on Bainbridge Island is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for a combination 1st / 2nd grade classroom for the 2024-25 school year, who is a practicing Catholic (preferred) and is committed to Catholic education.
Candidates must be knowledgeable of and experienced in working with primary school students. This position is a self-contained classroom teaching all subjects including Religion, Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
Teachers are supported with specialists, teaching weekly classes in Music, Active Spanish and PE. The candidate must know and provide quality lessons, including the learning standards and developmental stages of primary school children, as well as be adept in providing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
The teacher must also practice good communication skills with students, their parents, and other faculty and staff.
Compensation : $50,000 to $65,000 based on candidate's experiences and skills in relation to the job description and the mission of the school.
Any offering of salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

Candidates must :
Be a practicing Catholic (preferred)
Hold a current Washington State Teaching Certificate or be working on these credentials
Meet Archdiocesan Safe Environment Standards
Have the ability to establish a calm, orderly classroom environment that values all students and their diversity as well as challenges students at whatever level of learning they are
Support the school by assisting with marketing efforts such as Back to School night, Open House, parent meetings, auction, various parish activities and meetings as needed
Be open to continuing his / her own professional learning and improving his / her teaching skills
Teacher job responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Collaborate with the school staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating the school's goals and objectives with specific focus on faith formation and ensuring learning for all students.
Fulfill responsibilities associated with additional duties assigned by the principal at the beginning of the year.
Maintain and complete attendance daily between 8 : 30 and 8 : 45 AM.
Establish and maintain a classroom learning environment in which students can thrive, guided by Gospel values, high academic expectations for all students, and a belief that students can and will learn.
Implement responsive instructional strategies including formative assessments, adjusting lesson plans to meet the needs of the students.
Develop and publish monthly parent communication
Attend and collaborate during weekly PLC meetings
Respond to requests for parent communication within 24 hours (48 on the weekend)
Grading completed assignments within two weeks of the assignments being completed and returning those assignments to students on a weekly (or more frequent) basis
Provide academic data to show student progress.
Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the school handbook and faculty handbook.
Arrive at school at least 30 minutes before school begins and stay at least 30 minutes after students are dismissed.
