About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - Float Pool Job Specialty : MedSurg / Tele Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour night shift, 3 nights per week Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : One year experience preferred License : State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Certifications : - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Must-Have : - Proficiency in patient care- Knowledge of nursing skills specific to specialty Job Description : Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and the patient / family to identify and meet the patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient using the nursing process and patient care standards.- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care and adherence to organizational mission and core values.
- Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.- Develop and implement a patient plan of care, observing outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Advocate for and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.- Provide patient / family education by assessing learning readiness, needs, and abilities, then teaching and evaluating effectiveness.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs.
- Provide relationship-based care, striving to understand what is most important to the individual and actively engaging them in all aspects of care.
- Respect cultural differences and the diversity of human experience in delivering care.- Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.- Serve as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow, matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.- Use standards of care, hospital policies / procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept / mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.- Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education.- Maintain professional records demonstrating evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate one's own integrity and nursing practice concerning professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process.
