The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) is the only nationally recognized interdisciplinary professional membership organization that represents the interests of the entire medical genetics team including clinical geneticists, clinical laboratory geneticists, and genetic counselors.
Together, the ACMG and its members engage in coordinated efforts to improve patient care, ensure optimal reimbursement for genetic service providers, establish standards of care and laboratory policy, and educate members about advances important to their practices.
Job Description
The Program Manager (PM) will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Engage, Equip, and Empower (E3) Genomics Pathway Program including coordination of reporting, meetings, and communication.
The PM will work in close partnership with the CEO, Director of Administration & Operations, and E3 Advisory Committee Chair to ensure that the funded goals and objectives of the E3 Genomics Pathways are met as delineated by the funder(s) and workplan.
The PM will develop partnerships with national organizations, academic institutions, industry partners, and collegiate associations to support program objectives.
This position will oversee any interns, consultants, and subcontractors and collaborate with other ACMG departments to facilitate program objectives.
This PM role is a part-time consultant position.
75% Project Management
- Leads day-to-day operational aspects of the E3 Pathways Program and oversees the entire team with support from the CEO.
- Works closely with the CEO to coordinate implementation of the various phases of the E3 workplan.
- In collaboration with the CEO / DAO and consultants, determines the direction and plans the programmatic activity of the E3 Pathways Program.

- Conducts monthly budget review with the Accounting Department to ensure expenditures are in alignment with funding award and budget categories.
- Manages project workflow maintains the Asana project management workspace, maintains document version controls, and final work products.
- Coordinates interactions with E3 Pathways Program workgroups, partners, and special projects teams, under supervision of the CEO.
- Develops national partner relationships and serves on national partner special interest groups, advisory committees, etc.
as approved by the CEO.
- Oversees website and marketing materials for the project.
- Reviews and responds to messages in the program email inbox.
- Keeps internal and external teams well informed of changes within the project scope / work.
- Executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
25% Travel and Event Management
- Travels to manage onsite logistics of the E3 Pathways Program during the ACMG Clinical Genetics Meeting.
- Coordinates E3 Pathways Program in-person meetings, agenda development, site location research and recommendation, meeting site logistics oversight, and travel assistance to attendees, as needed.
- Coordinates travel of student participants for the E3 Pathways program.
- Participates in exhibits of national student organizations to generate interest in the program and the field of genetics and genomics.
Qualifications
- Preferred master’s degree in science, public health, public administration, or related field with relevant experience in related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of applicable work experience in project / program management, especially on multi-year, government contracting, and / or other operations experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and take on leadership of projects and function independently and with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across many professional settings and within all levels of government.
- Must possess exceptional organizational skills, a proactive attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Needs to demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Willingness to travel for 2-5 day trips, 1-3 times per calendar year, or as needed.
Additional Information
Pay Range :
$55,000.00 to $60,000.00
The ACMG pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This is a largely sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs. Ability to travel domestically occasionally, up to 10%.
