Key Responsibilities :

  • Evidence and Property Intake : Independentlymanage the acceptance and initial cataloging of evidence andproperty. Ensure all items are meticulously logged and secured uponreceipt.
  • Cataloging and Record Management : Maintain a comprehensive electronic records system for all receiveditems. Ensure accuracy and accessibility of records for auditingand operational purposes.
  • Storage Management : Oversee and ensure the proper packaging and storage of evidenceincluding sensitive hazardous and toxic materials.

Implement andmanage storage protocols to maintain the integrity and security ofstored items.

Legal Compliance and Procedures : Stay updated on and ensure adherence to state and federal lawsregarding evidence handling.

Regularly review and updatedepartmental policies related to evidence and property management.

Release and Transfer of Property : Handle theprocessing of property release requests coordinating with officersproperty owners the District Attorneys Office the courts and otheragencies.

Maintain detailed records of all transfers and releases.

  • Audit and Inventory Control : Conduct andoversee regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy andaccountability. Identify and rectify discrepancies in inventoryrecords.
  • Communication and Reporting : Serve asa liaison between the evidence room and other departmental unitsensuring effective communication and timely reporting ofevidencerelated issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degreewith a preferred field of study in Criminal Justice Law EnforcementLogistics or a related field.
  • Minimum of two(2) years of experience in inventory control or a closely relatedfield preferably within a law enforcement or legalsetting.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolvingskills.
  • Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills with proven ability to manage and lead ateam.
  • High proficiency in database managementand related software.

NOTE : An equivalentcombination of education and experience may be evaluated forconsideration.
