Paralegal
Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a leading trial and appellate firm serving Southern California’s business community for over 25 years. Renowned for handling complex business, insurance, and labor and employment cases, the firm seeks an experienced, motivated Paralegal to join its Labor and Employment practice .
The Labor and Employment Litigation Paralegal will play a crucial role in managing and supporting a challenging and diverse case load, which includes complex wage and hour claims, class actions, and general employment litigation (e.g., discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment). This role requires a professional with exceptional organizational skills, a strong grasp of California litigation procedure, and a minimum of two years of direct experience in the labor and employment field.
ABOUT THE ROLE :
- Support 2–3 attorneys and manage approximately 20–30 active cases.
- Handle all phases of discovery (70–80% of workload), including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Review and analyze client and opposing party documents for responsiveness, relevance, and privilege.
- Assist with client document productions, privilege logs, and e-discovery coordination.
- Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, and oppositions, including Motions for Summary Judgment and demurrers.
- Conduct legal research on California labor and employment laws and relevant case law.
- Assist with trial and arbitration preparation, including assembling trial binders, exhibits, witness lists, exhibit logs, and pre-trial or mediation briefs. Provide War Room and courtroom support as needed.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files, correspondence, and documents in compliance with Los Angeles Superior Court, Ventura County, Orange County, and U.S. District Court (Central District of California) rules.
- Summarize depositions and draft deposition outlines.
- Track and manage litigation deadlines and perform judicial profile research.
- Note : Filing is not part of this role; secretarial staff manage court filings.
QUALIFICATIONS :
A minimum of two (2) years of dedicated paralegal experience in California Labor and Employment litigation is mandatory.Strong experience in California labor and employment defense litigation.Proven track record of handling complex discovery and trial preparation.Familiarity with Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange County Superior Courts, and Central District of California filing procedures preferred.Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.COMPENSATION / BENEFITS :
