Our painters are responsible for sandblasting and applying coats of primer and paint to various pieces of equipment that are manufactured.
Performs rework on equipment that is in for service / repairs or new equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Reads blueprints, work orders or receives instruction from supervisor regarding painting.
- Performing pre-painting activities such as "Power-Wash" on parts in preparation for painting / fabrication
- Applying a variety of industrial coatings to fabricated metal product.
- Using instrumentation to measure painting parameters to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Selects premixed paint and prepares paint that matches specified colors.
- Working with process sheets, repair orders, specifications, and instructions to determine colors and areas to paint on machine surfaces, basic rigging, paint prepping, painting, general maintenance on parts, steel, aluminum, and equipment.
- Ensures equipment such as respirators, spray guns, hoses, etc, are in good working order and cleaned after using.
- Maintains organization of paint shop by storing unused items properly.
- Adheres to disposal requirements of paint cans and tools, contaminated sand etc.
- Adheres to respirator fit testing and testing requirements.
Work Environment
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts;
fumes or airborne particles, forklifts.
- The majority of work is performed in a warehouse, paint shop environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include, close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this position, requirements include, standing for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, walking, using hands and arms reaching for objects, carrying, climb or balance, speak and hear.
- While performing this position the employee is subject to wearing a full face respirator.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS :
- Practical experience with automotive and / or industrial coatings applications - a minimum of 2 years' experience.
- Thorough knowledge of surface preparation to ensure proper coating adhesion and basic understanding of paint equipment and paint-booth operations.
- Experience with various types of metal abrasive treatments such as media blasting, chemical etching, and degreasers.
- Ability to work off of blueprints, drawings and work orders.
- Skill at matching color, mixing techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDES :
- Demonstrate qualities that support a safe working environment.
- Qualification due to experience, training and education.
- Certification of Respirator Fit test.
