Radiation Therapist - Full Time -Days
Job Summary
Works under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and performsresponsibilities associated with the localization of tumors and theadministration of radiation therapy.
Possess knowledge inprinciples, practices and procedures involved with the operation ofionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment.
Theknowledge of human anatomy and proper positioning of the patient toprovide radiation therapy treatment. Able to perform CT Simulationsin accordance with the instructions of the radiation oncologist.
Isresponsible for patient safety protocols and adhere to departmentalpolicies and procedures. Participates in the department'sperformance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI)activities.
Maintains patient work flow and problem solve treatmentissues. Have excellent technical and communication skills and showsability to develop relationships with the staff, patients andfamilies.
Upholds NYS Licensure, registration in RadiologicTechnology, ARRT and BLS certification.
Core Job Responsibilities
Delivery ofRadiation Therapy Administer prescribed dose of radiation therapyunder the direction of a radiation oncologist, in accordance withregulatory standards and hospital policies, practices andprocedures, including but not limited to :
- Positionspatients for radiation therapy treatments with accuracy; utilizingimage guidance.
- Simulates patients under the guidance ofradiation oncologist and make custom immobilizationdevices.
- Performs daily quality assurance checks onlinear accelerators and CT / simulation
- Ensure that allapplicable treatment information and quality assurance checks;regarding the proposed treatment plan is correct before the startof radiation.
- Trains and supervises students duringtheir clinical rotation, and or shadow program; Orient newradiation therapist and act as their mentor.
- Acts as aconsistent team member with patient care as the priority.Effectively rotates as needed with seamless efficiency.
Able totreat efficiently with all radiation therapists
- Able toeffectively communicate with Radiation Oncologist, Dosimetrist,Physicist and support team.
- Adheres to punch in / punchout policy. PEAR reports for missed punches are signed bysupervisor before the end of the pay period
- Correctlyidentify patient in ARIA and accurately deliver the treatment tocorrect patient. Identify each patient and treatment area prior totreatment according to policy.

Education / ExperienceRequirements
Required :
Graduate from an accredited School ofRadiation Therapy Technology
Preferred :
Bachelor ofScience in Radiation; AAS degree in Radiation Therapy alsoaccepted.
Licensure / Certification Requirements
Required :
- Current NYSLicensure registration in Radiologic Technology Radiation Therapy.
- Registered with the American Registry ofRadiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Current CardioPulmonary ResuscitationCertification
