POSITION OVERVIEW
The Regional Human Resources Manager functions as a key member of the Corporate Human Resources team and will support the West manufacturing region.
This region is inclusive of facilities in California, Arizona, Oregon, and Idaho.
In conjunction with local senior management and Human Resources, this position will support, train, and oversee a wide range of human resources functions across multiple manufacturing facilities.
Development and implementation of policies, procedures, and process improvements, consistent with corporate and regional vision, will be a key focus of this role.
The Regional Human Resources Manager will assist local human resources and management in conducting employee investigations to ensure compliance with employment law.
They may assist with strategic planning tasks such as organizing the labor force, training initiatives, onboarding programs, and much more!
This role will require the ability to build excellent working relationships with a diverse group of team members. They will need to act as a partner to their local manufacturing teams in all aspects of the position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide professional and strategic human resources partnership to support and advise employees at all levels.
- Collaborate with both corporate and local team members on design, development, introduction and / or integration of human resources processes, practices, programs, and initiatives.
- Ensure effective decision making, particularly related to the human capital of the business. Bringing best practice and external perspectives to strategic and operational business discussions and people management decision-making.
- Continuous building of business relationships and trust to achieve and strengthen internal and external business partnerships.
- Support local staffing processes by identifying tools for attracting and retaining potential employees. Creation of effective onboarding programs such as job postings, interviewing, and training that aligns with Champion policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws.
- Act as the resident expert on regional / state human resource policies and procedures to aid and guide supervisors and managers to correctly interpret the requirements and processes including, but not limited to : terminations, lay-offs, recall from lay-off, job postings, promotions, attendance control, disciplinary practices and vacation scheduling.
- Partner with local human resources and leadership on strategic community outreach and engagement such as supporting local job fairs, participating in community service, and maintaining local hiring partnerships.
- Act as a point of contact for local human resources on employee matters and conduct investigations. Work alongside Champion's legal team to ensure compliant resolutions.
- Conduct and stay current on government regulations / legal / HR / best practices as needed.
- Initiate, develop and implement HR related programs and / or projects as needed.
- Create analytics and reports using data from various sources and prepare periodic and special reports when needed or requested.
- Other duties and project assignments. 25-30% travel required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education : Four-year degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Work Experience : Five to ten years of progressive human resource experience in a team-based environment.
- Manufacturing experience in a medium-large manufacturing environment preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
- Proficient computer skills with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products specializing in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to quickly learn HRIS and Applicant Tracking system functionalities.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills including clear and succinct writing skills.
- Must be dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledgeable of current employment laws and government regulations that pertain to employee relations matters.
- Strong analytical skills and practical judgement.
