We are seeking a passionate and experienced Development Director to lead our fundraising initiatives and strengthen our organization's financial sustainability.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in relationship management, grant writing, and fundraising. This role is pivotal in cultivating relationships with donors, managing volunteer efforts, and overseeing the development and execution of the Sporting Clays Fun Shoot, Extravaganza auction, and the annual Scouting product sale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
- Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities, including grants and estate planning prospects.
- Oversee grant writing processes, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with funder requirements.
- Recruit and organize volunteer committees who provide leadership to the fundraising events of Sporting Clays Fun Shoot and Extravaganza auction.
- Supervise and support the Marketing Director and Graphic Design Director to ensure marketing goals are achieved.
- Negotiate terms with potential donors and partners to secure funding agreements.
- Provide leadership in volunteer management, recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers for fundraising events.
- Maintain the organization’s website using WordPress to ensure up-to-date information on fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications
- Believe in and subscribe to the Scouting America values and principles.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
- Eligible to receive professional Scouting commission - a criminal background check will be performed.
- Proven experience in development or fundraising roles with a focus on relationship management.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve specific goals.
- Excellent research skills to identify potential funding sources and grant opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing with a successful track record of securing funds.
- Familiarity with fundraising and communication platforms for email marketing campaigns is advantageous.
- Experience in volunteer management is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
