Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in Riverside.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students and be able to provide instruction and support to help them achieve their educational goals.
Overview :Responsibilities :
- Conduct assessments to determine students' educational needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) accordingly.
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, adaptive technology, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and parents to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
- Adapt classroom materials and teaching strategies to accommodate students' visual impairments and diverse learning styles.
- Utilize assistive technology and sensory aids to enhance students' access to the curriculum and learning environment.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes independence, confidence, and self-advocacy.
- Monitor student progress, track data, and adjust instruction as needed to facilitate academic growth and skill development.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Valid CAteaching certification in Visual Impairments (VI) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred.
- Knowledge of Braille, tactile graphics, and other specialized instructional techniques.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching and working with diverse student populations.
