Job Description

Summary

The Front Desk Agent welcomes and registers guests, presents statements, and collects payment for departing guests. They also communicate with housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services to fulfill guest requests.

The hourly range for this position is $18.50-$22.20.

Essential Job Functions

  • Welcome guests upon their arrival and assign rooms
  • Provide information about the hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities
  • Respond to guests’ complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Select and block rooms for arriving guests, book same day reservations, pre-register guests as required, and sometimes escort guests to their rooms
  • Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully-furnished to accommodate guests’ needs
  • Receive payment from and check out hotel guests
  • Work closely with the guest services agents to coordinate the smooth and efficient handling of guest luggage at both check in and check out
  • Follow baggage tagging procedures and ski storage procedures
  • Deliver messages, packages, or other items to guest rooms or other areas of the hotel expeditiously, placing in designated areas
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the Lobby and Luggage storeroom
  • Create unique baskets or special amenities for special guests
  • Accept reservations, changes, and cancellations
  • Recommend restaurants and activities to guests
  • Make change, post charges, reconcile daily work, and make deposits
  • Communicate with guests and coworkers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or high school equivalent preferred
  • 1 year of customer / guest experience preferred

Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received

Given : This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Received : Works under direct supervision of Front Desk Manager. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently.

Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time. Regularly work in adverse conditions and requiring the use of protective apparel / equipment to prevent exposure to the elements as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.

Must be able to lift, push or pull occasionally up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
