Professional and administrative work in a wide variety of both architectural and engineering projects. Responsible for design review, planning, inspection, coordination, training, supervision, and approval of professional and technical staff work including but not limited to the preparation of reports and presentations, preparation of specifications, the monitoring of contract provisions and development / review of both staff and architectural / engineering consultants work products.
Responsible for project management, direct administration of contracts including developing the scope of facility construction and renovation projects, major building system renewal and replacement projects.
Work includes coordination with user agencies to maintain continuity of operations, scheduling and planning the work with Capital Improvement staff, Facilities Management and Electronic Services and Security (ESS) Divisions, and coordinating construction activities with Engineers, Architects and Contractors to ensure compliance with federal, state, County and local government requirements.
Work is complex and requires considerable contact with individuals and staff members as well as public and private organizations, as needed.
A high level of independent professional judgement decision-making is essential. Assignments are received in the form of broad instructions or general program objectives.
Work is performed under general supervision, and is reviewed for general adherence to established County policy and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering; minimum of four (4) years of experience in professional engineering work.
Equivalencies : Related Master's Degree OR related Doctoral Degree and two (2) years of experience.
Necessary Special Requirement : Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida OR licensed as a P.E. in another state and ability to obtain State of Florida Professional Engineer Licensure within 11 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN : Civic / governmental projects.
Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment.
