JOB DESCRIPTION

471 bed hospital. Level 2 trauma

4-10 hour shifts, currently Monday through Thursday, with the requirement to be blood bank trained

• Under the direction of a licensed Medical technologist or senior individual, read policies and procedures; shadow medical technologists in the department;
• begin learning the lab and hospital computer systems as applicable; function as a specimen management tech, processing samples and registering patient information into the computer systems;

act in a support capacity as a phlebotomist, sample transporter or as a laboratory aide by filing, scanning and inventory

Monday - Thursday nights shift 8p-6 : 30a

QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience

• Minimum of two years in specialty in similar size hospital
• Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record
• Previous experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory a benefit, but not required.

License / Registration / Certification

• CPR (by the American Heart Association)
• BLS, ACLS - American Heart Association
• Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred, but not required

Education and Training

BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science (Biology, Chemistry, or The Physical Sciences) and / or equivalent relevant experience as recognized by New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

NYS Dept of Education, Education Law, Title 8, Article 165, sub-parts 79-15; 9 / 23 / 8).

Physical Requirements - Must be able to push, pull, bend, and ambulate without assistance.
