Job Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The senior associate vice president of international development and alumni engagement has primary responsibility for development and implementation of the university's global advancement efforts.
The incumbent raises principal gifts of $5M+ from all international constituencies including alumni, friends, parents. The senior associate vice president will lead a team of development professionals that raise major and leadership gifts of $100K+ from international constituents.
The senior associate vice president will work closely with senior university leadership to design, lead and implement programs and activities that engage strategic international partners and advance the university's most critical objectives.
The senior associate vice president will work in partnership with the director of international alumni engagement to design engagement activities that build new and existing alumni networks in key international locations to maximize relationship building for philanthropic support, to support student recruitment initiatives in partnership with Enrollment Management, to offer career development opportunities to international alumni in partnership with Career Services and to enhance the university's reputation globally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Manage a portfolio of high potential international principal giving prospects (alumni, friends, parents, foundations, and corporate / foundations) with emphasis on gifts of $5M+.
Develop and implement strategic cultivation and solicitation strategies for each prospect to maximize principal gifts to the university.
Staff senior university leadership and faculty on face-to-face meetings with international prospects and donors and orchestrate effective cultivation and stewardship activities to advance strategic relationships in support of university priorities. (50%)
2. Develop, lead, and evaluate the university's global engagement strategy and execution plan for international advancement, in partnership with the university president, senior vice president of university relations and development, alumni relations, the schools and college, undergraduate and graduate admissions, and research. (20%)
3. Develop, launch, and staff a program that engages alumni, parents, and friends around the world who are passionate about advancing the university's academic and research interests through their philanthropy, advocacy, and leadership volunteerism. (20%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develop and oversee the annual international travel schedule for university leadership and development officers, prioritizing geographic areas where there is opportunity to maximize philanthropic support and alumni engagement.
Work in conjunction with senior director of leadership engagement to plan and organize international development travel for the university president and provost. (5%)
2. Supervise a staff of development professionals focused on raising philanthropic support from international prospects and donors (alumni, friends, parents, and foundations and corporate / foundations) capable of making gifts of $100K+.
Set goals and metrics, monitor progress, provide feedback and coaching as needed. (5%)
3. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. (
