Compensation : $33.74 - $33.74 per hour ($5,000 Sign-on Bonus)

Skookum is seeking a dedicated and hard-working HVAC Technician II with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to :

• Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment, joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
• Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to insure proper operation, tests joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap-and-water solution, wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands, replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, may install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity in warehouses and small factory buildings.
• Works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
• Responsible for installation, repairs and troubleshooting HVAC malfunctions.
• Responsible to perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
• Responsible for utilizing wire diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings to perform repairs and maintenance.
• Responsible for installing and cleaning air and water filters.
• Responsible for installs and programs thermostats.
• Fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and chassis parts.
• Responsible to connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source.
• Communicates and interacts directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.
• Responds to customer inquiries and complaints.
• Ensures completed work meets quality control standards.
• Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers.
• Communicates with scheduler to update status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
• Must maintain and wear PPE as required.
• Additional general maintenance task as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 3 years of HVAC experience required.
• HVAC and / or EPA certification required.
• Required : Must meet all North Carolina licensing requirements at a Master's or Journeyman's level or have a North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Certification or ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification or be willing to successfully enroll in an accredited apprenticeship program.")
• Must meet all of the requirements of the HVAC Technician I job.

Physical Requirements :

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.

• Must be able to lift and / or move up to 70 pounds.
• May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
• Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements :

• A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
