PROFILE of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine

Located primarily within the Las Vegas Medical District, the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV graduated its first class of students in May of 2021.

Fully accredited, the school currently has 240 medical students, 150 faculty physicians, and more than 300 medical residents and fellows.

With a new medical education building opening in 2022, including state-of-the-art medical classrooms and simulation center, the school continues to grow.

As one of the most diverse medical schools in the nation, our graduates have been accepted to prestigious residency and fellowship programs throughout the country.

Our faculty, students, residents, and fellows have had their research published in peer-reviewed journals that range from the American Journal of Surgery to Cancer Cytopathology.

ROLE of the POSITION

The Department of Plastic Surgery, at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, is seeking an Assistant / Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.

The successful candidate will have special training and interest in Gender Reassignment, and the full spectrum of plastic surgery including general reconstruction of the trunk, head and neck, upper and lower extremities as well as reconstructive microsurgery, complex wound care and reconstruction, and the care of traumatic injuries including facial fractures, burns, and replantation at the state of Nevada's only Level I Trauma Center.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic Plastic Surgery practice with an integrated plastic surgery residency training program and a micro surgery fellowship.

Responsibilities include patient care, research and teaching (didactic and bedside) for Plastic Surgery residents and fellows, trainees in other residencies, and medical students : patient care with reconstructive needs in both inpatient and outpatient care settings, and clinical and / or basic science research.

Must take plastic surgery call. This position may be considered at the tenured, tenure-track or non-tenure track appointment depending on qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate is expected to have an M.D. or D.O. degree, and completion of ACGME accredited residency program.

Candidate must have completed Fellowship training in reconstructive surgery and be board certified or in the process of receiving board certification in Plastic Surgery, prior to employment commencing.

Candidates must be eligible for a Nevada medical license, malpractice coverage and meet credentialing requirements and must be able to obtain admitting privileges at applicable hospitals and / or clinics.

Finalist must possess and maintain a State Board of Pharmacy license and DEA license and may be subject to a background check.

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
