Job Description and Duties

The Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA), as the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU), investigates and prosecutes, both criminally and civilly, (a) health care providers who defraud the Medi-Cal program and (b) those who abuse or neglect elders and dependent adults in care facilities.

In coordination with and under the general direction of the Special Agent Supervisor, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA), Training Officer (TO), as the Investigations Section's Statewide TO operates with a high level of independence performing varied, complex, technical, and completed analytical duties to ensure the Section's staff training needs are met.

The TO develops course curriculum and instructor portfolios and submits them for approval through oversight agencies, organizes and tracks the complex training requirements for investigative and support staff, tracks and coordinates training through various internal and external systems, and ensures compliance in accordance with guidelines and policy set forth by Federal and state law and the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), as well as training parameters applicable to the Office of the Inspector General’s (OIG) Performance Standards.

Working Conditions

Telework is available but is contingent on DMFEA's operational needs. Telework requires California residency.

This position will require travel for recruitment efforts, meetings, and training.
