About The Position
Job Title : Histo Technologist Job Specialty : Histology Job Duration : Permanent Shift : Tuesday-Saturday, 1 : 00 am - 9 : 30 am Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 1 year in histology required;
new graduates are not accepted. License : Not specified Certifications : ASCP HT or HTL certification preferred Must-Have : Candidates must be within 45 minutes commuting distance or be in the process of relocating permanently.
Job Description : Responsible for accessioning specimens, preparing frozen sections, and assisting in gross specimen examination.
- Prepare fixed tissue specimens, and cut, mount, and stain tissue sections for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
- Perform frozen section preparations efficiently, ensuring tissue is embedded properly, cut accurately, and stained correctly for prompt diagnosis.
- Conduct routine, special stains, and immunohistochemical stains.- Recognize deviations from expected results and use judgment to determine appropriate actions.
- Assist with autopsies according to standard procedures as assigned.- Organize and prepare tissue specimens and assist in gross examination.
- Ensure order accuracy and choose the correct lab for testing when sending specimens to other laboratories.- Store or dispose of prepared specimens, slides, and blocks neatly and retrievably.
- Complete required daily procedures with accuracy. Physical Requirements : Work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals, pathogens, and patient blood and body fluids.
- Moderate lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally more with assistance.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and reaching, with long periods of computer use.
