Starship , a subsidiary of Optum Financial, is a design-centric organization that creates high-quality products quickly and efficiently by working in small, dedicated squads, whereby a product leader, 1-2 designers, and 2-4 engineers tightly collaborate to create and build our technology.

As a Lead Software Engineer , you’ll play an essential role in delivering new products and improvements to provide our members with the best experience possible.

You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering secure, scalable software, collaborating with fellow engineers, product managers, and designers to make sure we're building the right solutions for the right problems, all while maintaining our high standards for quality and user experience.

Additionally, you’ll work alongside our CTO to take our technology to the next level, enhancing our platform capabilities, leading adoption of industry standards and best practices, and introducing shared components to improve the productivity of the entire team.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Building and enhancing delightful user experiences across both Mobile and Web
  • Building and consuming both RESTful API endpoints and asynchronous events to implement business logic
  • Building reusable code and libraries to be leveraged across our team and technology stack
  • Developing software and processes that safely and securely handles our customer’s health and financial data
  • Collaborating within and across teams to ensure that all of our efforts are aligned towards the same goals
  • Communicating thoughtfully with team members through design review, code review, and day-to-day collaboration

Required Qualifications :

  • 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Javascript / Typescript and React Native
  • Experience building and consuming API endpoints (REST, AMQP, GraphQL)
  • Experience implementing testable business logic that is secure and easy to maintain

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience designing, architecting and operating event-driven services
  • Experience building and maintaining 3rd-party integrations
  • Experience designing and deploying to cloud-based environments such as AWS
  • Experience operating in high security environments - e.g., payments, healthcare

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
