Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a Systems Administrator (Unix / Linux) to be a crucial pillar in the robustness of our IT infrastructure.
This includes a dynamic mix of on-premises and cloud-based systems. Primary responsibilities will center around maintaining the integrity of our systems through rigorous patch management and security measures, alongside providing expert support for application troubleshooting across Unix / Linux and Windows environments.
Responsibilities
Patch Management and Security : Manage the deployment of security patches and updates for both Windows and Linux operating systems across diverse on-premises and cloud-based hosts, spanning multiple domains.
Maintain constant vigilance to ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest security measures.
- Application Troubleshooting : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve application issues.
- Infrastructure Provisioning : Streamline the seamless provisioning of access and configurations for systems and infrastructure.
Empower development, maintenance, and user access to ensure continuous operations.
- Security and Access Control : Lead the creation, management, and maintenance of user and security groups.Implement and promote security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
- Infrastructure Development (as applicable) : Actively contribute to infrastructure development efforts and, where applicable, integrate cloud and DevOps principles to bolster scalability and efficiency.
Explore automation opportunities to optimize provisioning, security, and resource configuration.
Agile Frameworks : Collaborate seamlessly within Agile frameworks, with a specific focus on SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
- Proven expertise in setting up and maintaining Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with Azure or AWS
- Familiarity with hybrid on-premises and cloud environments; experience with cloud technologies is a valuable asset.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices and access control.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Ansible Automation Platform, AWS CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Working knowledge of Agile frameworks, particularly SAFe.
- A profound passion for technology and a steadfast commitment to creative problem-solving.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal oversight.
